Scrap Heap Collar Denim
Scrap Heap Collar Denim
Description:
Anyone who sews knows that the sewing room floor quickly becomes a scrap heap. We find creative ways to use what might otherwise end up in a landfill.
Although we make the collars in the color stories shown, each strip of fabric is hand-cut from whatever scraps we generate. All are one-of-a-kind and all will vary slightly.
They fit all around the neck and fasten in the back with 4 large (easy to use) snaps. Wear them like you would a statement necklace or scarf! One size fits all.
This is a statement piece. It says “what I wear is not going to change the world. But what I do can.”
Width of the base cloth is 5 ½”
Width of the collar is approx.. 7” (18 CM)
NOTE: I had an aunt that I adored who used to wash and reuse plastic bags. As a kid I didn’t get it. I was born into a disposable world. And here we are a couple of generations later. drowning in our own garbage. What can we do to be more responsible consumers?
1. Ask and acknowledge where it’s made and by whom.
2. Buy less. Buy better. Wear longer.
3. Use less of everything. Especially plastic.
Anyone who sews knows that the sewing room can become a scrap heap. Instead of tossing the scraps away I started playing with them. I cut and stitched these collars using scraps that otherwise would have been tossed. All hand made.
This is a statement piece. It says “what I wear is not going to change the world. But what I do can.”
